Ndutu Calving Season Serengeti Migration Safari

You’ll need to arrange your flights to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK) for domestic travel. Upon arrival, a WeGuide Africa Safaris representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha. That evening or the following morning, you’ll meet your local guide for a detailed safari briefing. You’ll spend your first night at a peaceful accommodation, which is the perfect place to relax before your African adventure begins. This marks the start of your unforgettable Tanzania safari experience.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we set off for Tarangire National Park. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which flows through it. This “river of warthogs” serves as the only water source for wildlife in the region during the dry season.

In some areas, the vegetation is quite dense, featuring elephant grass and acacia woodlands. The park is renowned for its elephant families, which can often be seen gathering by the river. You may also spot giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests. These animals are closely followed by various predators, including lions and leopards.

Tarangire National Park is home to the largest population of elephants in Tanzania and boasts more breeding species of birds than any other place on Earth. It is the best location to observe these gentle giants in their natural habitat, from the adorable calves to the impressive bulls.

After enjoying a packed lunch, we will head to our accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay at Eileen’s Tree Lodge or a similar location.

After an early breakfast, embark on a scenic 3.5–4-hour drive to the Ndutu area in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. En route, take in stunning vistas and Maasai villages. Arrive at Ndutu in time for a thrilling game drive through plains alive with wildebeest, zebras, and predators during migration season. Pause at Lake Ndutu for a lakeside picnic and birdwatching. In the evening, settle into your luxury camp set in the heart of the migration corridor. Enjoy a bush dinner under the stars and unwind with drinks around the campfire.

Spend an unforgettable day exploring the Ndutu region during the calving season (December to March), when thousands of newborn wildebeest draw the attention of predators like lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Your expert guide will track the most exciting sightings to ensure an incredible wildlife experience. For an added adventure, begin your day with an optional hot air balloon safari (at additional cost). Enjoy a scenic bush lunch or return to camp for a meal before heading out for more game viewing. As the sun sets, return for a warm shower and a lantern-lit dinner under the stars.

Enjoy an early breakfast before driving 2 hours to the Ngorongoro Crater. Descend 600 meters into the world’s largest intact caldera, home to dense wildlife including rhinos, elephants, hippos, and big cats. Enjoy a 5–6 hour game drive across the crater floor with a picnic at Ngoitoktok Springs. After your safari, ascend the crater and continue for 1 hour to your Karatu lodge. Relax in your elegant room or book a massage before a farewell dinner highlighting local flavors.

After breakfast, drive 45 minutes to Lake Manyara National Park. This small but scenic park is rich in biodiversity, known for its tree-climbing lions, flamingos, and baboon-filled forests. Enjoy a relaxing game drive and an optional guided forest walk (extra cost). Later, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (3 hrs) for your international departures.
